Technology Transfer Office (TTO) at BCIL transferred a very promising game changer technology on “Production of functional sugar D-Allulose from D-Fructose using novel D-allulose-3-epimerase enzyme”, developed at the Center of Innovative and Applied Bioprocessing (CIAB) by Sudhir Singh, Scientist D & his team to Kothari Sugars & Chemicals Ltd. The present invention relates to a method for the production of functional sugar D-allulose from D-fructose employing a novel enzyme D-allulose 3-epimerase (DaeM) stable at high temperature and acidic pH while retaining high activity making it very useful for industrial production of D-allulose from D-fructose containing feedstock. KSCL is the 2nd largest producer of sugar in India. The licensing ceremony took place in the gracious presence of Professor Ashwani Pareek, Executive Director of NABI and CIAB, Dr. Purnima Sharma, Managing Director of BCIL, inventors and other scientists from CIAB and NABI.
