Technology Transfer Office (TTO) at BCIL successfully transferred a promising technology “A tick-controlling formulation of dimethicone and the process thereof” developed at the Tamil Nadu Veterinary and Animal Sciences University, Chennai.
This technology involves a mechanical acaricide based formulation for controlling ticks in companion animals and cattle. The conventional tick controlling products suffer from drawbacks of inducing resistance in the ticks as well as being harmful for the animal as well as the caregiver. Funded by Department of Biotechnology's extramural grant, this technology addresses the aforementioned complications via its unique composition. The technology has been developed by Dr. Azhahianambi Palavesam, Assistant Professor, Department of Veterinary Parasitology and his team, under the guidance of Dr. K G Tirumurugaan, Project Director, Translational Research Platform for Veterinary Biologicals (TRPVB) at TANUVAS and transferred to M/s Brilliant Biopharma Private Limited, Hyderabad, a pioneer in the development and manufacturing of veterinary biologicals and medicines.
The licensing event took place in the gracious presence of Hon'ble Vice Chancellor, Registrar, Director of Research, Project Director, TRPVB, Dr. Purnima Sharma, Managing Director of BCIL and other faculty at TANUVAS.
