BCIL, in collaboration with International Centre for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology (ICGEB), successfully organized a one-day workshop on “Entrepreneurial Opportunities for ICGEB Research Students” on November 26, 2024, at ICGEB, New Delhi. The event brought together distinguished experts and aspiring innovators to explore the transformative potential of entrepreneurship in biotechnology. The workshop featured an inspiring keynote address by Dr. Ramesh V. Sonti and insightful sessions by renowned speakers, including Dr. Purnima Sharma (MD, BCIL), Ms. Shilpy Kochhar (BIRAC), Ms. Shreya Malik (SIIC, IIT Kanpur), Ms. Suvarna Pandey (RNA Associates), Dr. Jagadis Gupta Kapuganti (Fruvetech), Dr. Ravi Chandra Beeram (Revelations Biotech), and Dr. Anasuya Roy (NanoSafe). The interactive discussions focused on the importance of translating life sciences research into marketable products, entrepreneurial opportunities ,understanding the commercialization process including relevance of IP management and navigating regulatory landscape, developing an entrepreneurial mindset, funding and support for life sciences startups, challenges and strategies for overcoming obstacles and included compelling success stories of biotech startups transitioning from lab to market.
